Chapter Nineteen
"You didn't do her any favours, you know."
Giles had pulled Spike aside and was giving him "The Lecture".
"You saved her life, but think what she'll now have to face. Living forever, watching everyone she loves die-"
"You and I both know that nothing lives forever, Rupert. Everything has an escape clause, even immortality. And she won't watch everyone she loves die. She'll have me - and Peaches, heaven help me. She'll meet other immortals. Something tells me that her and that vengeance demon that saved her are going to become great pals. She'll adjust, Watcher. She's smart and she's strong. She'll figure it out, same as we all did."
With that, Spike left Giles standing by the scotch and went back to the party. For a party it had become. Oz had finally awoken, with the help of a waking spell from Willow and Anya. Unlike Willow, he did remember part of what had happened - the part about almost killing Willow. Nothing in his life had ever had the impact on him that that did. He now had more control over the monster inside than he had even learned in Tibet. He knew what he was capable of if he let loose. It would never happen again. This he knew for certain.
He wasn't happy about Willow choosing Spike over him, but he'd live with it. Not here, not in Sunnydale - but somewhere. She had a right to live her life however she saw fit. It was amazing the clarity that came with almost taking someone's life.
Xander, however, had not forgiven him and from the snide comments he made, never would. It wasn't too much longer before Oz took his leave.
Spike never - ever - thought that his biggest supporter in gaining Willow's affections would be Xander Harris. But saving her life - and making sure that the whelp never had to watch her die again - began a miraculous change in the boy's attitude. Spike was his new hero, next to Buffy.
Even Buffy herself seemed to have stopped threatening to stake him every hour.
Anya, drinking Giles's best scotch, kept giving weepy speeches about how nice it was to see demons and humans living in harmony together - and then she would hug everyone in the room.
When Anya had at last fallen asleep at the kitchen counter and Buffy had gone on patrol - and Xander and Giles were playing Quarters at the desk - Willow and Spike had a moment to speak to each other alone.
Spike, like Giles, wanted to explain the impact of immortality to Willow but Willow only had one thought on her mind.
"So, you won the bet," she said.
"Yeah, got my wish - didn't know it was going to be-"
"So that means we can finally stop with the lessons?" Willow interrupted.
Spike didn't like the sound of that. "Guess so, if you want to."
"I don't think I need them anymore, do you?"
"No, luv. I never thought you did."
"Oh."
Spike just stood watching her, wondering where this was going to lead.
"So, you won the bet," she repeated, and something within Spike's mind clicked. He gave her a most lascivious grin.
"Yup," he said, taking her into his arms. "And now there's nothing stopping us from-" but Willow's hand clamped over his mouth. It seemed they now had Giles' and Xander's attention.
"Wanna get out of here, Spike?"
He didn't need to be asked twice.
"Night, Watcher. Night, whe- uh, Xander."
Spike's crypt shown with candles on every surface.
"Does it need to be quite so bright in here?" Willow asked timidly.
"Yes."
Willow thought about all of her lessons. The candles, the massage, the oral sex, the toys… she wondered which lessons Spike would want to put to use tonight.
"You're thinking too much, witch."
"Sorry." She was nervous and he could tell.
"Come here, luv."
He kissed her and undressed her slowly, not touching anything with his hands but her garments. When he had her needy and wanting with just the magic of his kisses, he laid her on the bed and undressed himself, not making a show of it, just hasty in his impatience.
Laying down beside her, he started to say something, then stopped.
"What?" she wanted to know.
But he didn't answer her; he simply ran his fingertip over her body in one smooth motion from lips to pussy, feeling her heat and the wetness between her legs.
Moving on top of her, he kissed her again and slid inside. His hands held hers as he began to move.
The sound that escaped his throat made her fall in love with him all over again. She knew exactly what he meant.
This was meant to be.
This feeling, the two of them together, simply connecting and becoming one.
He went slowly, letting her adjust to him.
…
He went slowly, enjoying the feel of her.
…
They went slowly, not wanting this to ever end.
…
They went slowly, feeling the tension build as they no longer knew where one ended and the other began.
…
They went slowly, knowing that the moment was near.
It required no tricks and no special skills. No games or toys or special effects.
The only thing you need to make magic happen in bed, ladies and gentlemen, is someone who loves you.
Thus endeth the lesson.
The End
